One Ikechukwu Colma, a mechanic was Thursday sentenced by an FCT Senior Magistrates’ court in Karu, Abuja, to six months in prison without the option of a fine, for beating up Monday Mohammed of Kugbo Village, Abuja
The judgement was passed by Senior Magistrate Omolola Akindele after the convict pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of criminal force and intimidation.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Umar Mohammed, told the court that Mohammed, the complainant, reported the case at Karu Divisional Police Station on August 8.
He said the convict beat up the complainant at his car wash stand following an argument over N15,000 which he said the complainant owed him.
The complainant was rushed to the hospital after the incident, where he was treated for injuries sustained during the beating.
He said that the offence was contrary to Sections 264 and 397(b) of the Penal code.
The accused admitted to using force on the complainant as charged by the police, when asked by the magistrate.
In her ruling, Akindele sentenced the convict to three months in prison for the offence of criminal force and three months for intimidation.
