Amb. Kema Chikwe’s aspiration to return as National woman leader faces stiff opposition - disnaija.com
The desire of Ambassador Kema Chikwe to return to her former post at the Wadata House as the National Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the coming mini-congress of the party, is facing stiff opposition from women in the South-East where the position has been zoned to.
The League of South-East Women, a woman group, in a statement on Wednesday, alleged marginalisation by politicians from Imo State, condemned the situation.
The group, in a statement signed by its President, Mary Ikemefuna, and its Secretary, Ngozi Onyekwere, said an arrangement where the Imo bloc would produce every women leader for the he zone is “never healthy for the women development”.
“The PDP’s National Woman Leader in Imo State, when the state still holds the Presidency of National Council of Women Society, and the Women for Change Initiative, gives the state dominance over others,” said Mrs Ikemefuna.
The women group urged the party’s hierarchy to “act fast and save the women fold” by re-zoning the position to Anambra State.
