The traditional head of Oke Emo Quarters in Ilawe Ekiti in Ekiti state, Gbenga Agbona, has organised a free medical check-up programme  for elderly citizens in his domain.

Agbonawho who disclosed this while speaking to the press in Ilawe Ekiti on Saturday, explained that he decided to organize the programme to ensure that the people in his area were living in good health.

According to him, most of the people in the area don’t go for medical checks despite that there are hospitals and health centres around.

He said his free health programme would afford the people opportunity to be examined and given drugs where necessary.

In his words, “We have been organizing the free health or programme for the past four years. As an educated person who emerged the Elemo, I decided to come up with programmes which would benefit my people.

“The free health treatment is done twice a year. Medical personnel carry out checks on their blood pressure, screen them for diabetes and other diseases. Those who need drugs are given and medical officials give them talks on hygiene and other things they should do to make them healthier.”
