In an exclusive chat with Citizens Platform, the Lagos State Fire Service has clarified cause of the inferno which engulfed the premises of a trailer park in Lagos Thursday evening. The Lagos State Fire Service director Mr. Rasak Idowu Fadipe said the utility service had responded promptly to a distress call of 3 fuel tankers burning behind GT Bank, Alausa.
“We dispatched 3 fire trucks that carried specialized chemicals which is best for fighting petroleum related fires, we were able to bring the fire under control and also save other trucks and saloon cars in the premises”
Citizens Platform gathered that the petroleum tankers were carrying full shipments of approximately 33,000 liters per truck, this made the inferno more difficult to quell, however according to Fadipe another fire truck was on standby to stop the fire from spreading to other buildings around the area.
Residents of Lagos State had sent out feeds on the micro-blogging site Twitter about an unconfirmed explosion around the Alausa Central Mosque at about 8:45 PM. As at the time of filing this report Fadipe reiterated that the Lagos Fire Service was on top of the situation.
