The Nigerians in the Diaspora Organization America (NIDOA) will be holding the 2013 International Annual Convention from September 20th-21st with security and investment issues topping the agenda of the convention.
The NIDOA’s annual convention will be themed “Towards a New Era Nigeria: Building Sustainable Partnerships for National Development and Homeland Security”.
A press statement by the Public Relations Officer of the association, Anthony Afolo, said the mission of the conference was to engage participants in productive and actionable discourse on innovative ways to approach national development and homeland security in Nigeria to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.
The convention will be attended by Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Prof. Adebowale Adefuye, the Chairperson, House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, and many other government officials from Nigeria.
According to Mr. Afolo who is also the Chairman of the Convention’s Committee on Media and Strategy, the activities of the Annual General Meeting will include the Election of Board Officers and Bye Law Review World Conference.
There will be a National Security Discussion entitled: “Enhancing National Security through Diaspora and Homeland Cooperation”; a Forum on Trade & Investments in Nigeria; and a panel discussion by the New Jersey Chapter of the organization titled: “Role of Nigerian Youths in Accelerating Trade and Investments in Nigeria”.
There will also be a Consular Service where all participants will have an opportunity to renew their E-passports or obtain new ones.
