The Joint Task Force (JTF) during a raid in Kano at at Ryan\u2019 Awaki area of Unguwa Uku has seen to the death of at least fourteen suspected terrorists including one woman and one female child.<\/p>\n

The commander of the third Brigade in Kano, Brigadier General Iliyasu Abbah said one soldier was killed in the onslaught while one other was critically injured.<\/p>\n

Residents say, the shootout at the early hours of Sunday was as a result of a raid at the compound housing the suspected terrorists was invaded by the JTF.<\/p>\n

The gun shots and explosion lasted for over four hours with dead bodies suspected to be that of the terrorists seen been carried out of the building with different guns as improvised explosive devices were also recovered from the building.<\/p>\n

The house has since been demolished while the corpses have been taken to a morgue and the area has since been cordoned off by officers of JTF.<\/p>\n

The commander noted that the vehicles found inside the compound were primed probably for attack today during the Easter celebrations.<\/p>\n

Authority sau although residents were disturbed by the gun duel but they were made to lay down for their safety and no civilian casualty was recorded.<\/p>\n

Zaria road was barricaded by soldiers; this stopped motorists coming in from Abuja and other parts of the country, as well as those going out of Kano.<\/p>\n
