Nigerian Senator Dahiru Awaisu (PDP- Niger East Senatorial District) on Sunday said he would seek re-election for a third term in 2015 in spite of what he described as the political machinations to stop him. . Awaisu told newsmen in Minna during an interactive session that “nothing will deter me from contesting for re-election in 2015.<\/p>\n

His ambition, observers said, clashes with the ambition of Governor Babangida Aliyu, who also wants to run for the senate after completing his two terms.<\/p>\n

“I cannot be intimidated by anybody after being in politics for 32 years. There is nothing that I have not seen. I have been in politics for long and for that I cannot be intimidated by anybody not only in Niger but in this country,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

He noted that he had won most of his elective seats as representative of the opposition parties in the state, therefore, he would not be deterred by anybody.<\/p>\n

“My people back my move to seek re-election for a third term. I will seek re-election under the PDP, even though Gov. Babangida Aliyu, have shown interest in the seat,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

On the frosty relationship between him and Aliyu, he said: “it is not possible for anybody to intimidate me now because I cannot be intimidated but I am ready to make peace.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

He said he had helped to secure job placements for more than 125 youths from his senatorial district, with the relevant MDAs in the federal service.<\/p>\n

Awaisu said he had sunk several boreholes, built classrooms and health facilities for communities in his constituency.<\/p>\n

He, however, said that some of the projects were funded by MDGs, while I personally paid for the execution of others to bring succour to my people.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

He commended the electorate in his constituency for their support and understanding and urged them not to relent, promising to ensure quality representation in the senate.<\/p>\n
