\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Mauritius declared a national day of mourning on Monday after at least 10 people were killed in flash floods. <\/strong><\/h2>\n

More downpours could be\u00a0\u00a0 on the way, officials and the Indian Ocean Island\u2019s Meteorological Service said on Monday.<\/p>\n

The deaths occurred on Saturday and most of the victims were trapped in an underpass leading to the Caudan waterfront, a commercial area in Port Louis.<\/p>\n

Amateur video and still pictures showed flooded streets and cars submerged under water in the capital city.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam said on Sunday that Port Louis had a torrential downpour with 152 mm falling in two hours and declared Monday would be a day of mourning.<\/p>\n

The Mauritius meteorological service said showers were expected overnight and on Monday, with isolated thunderstorms that could cause further floods.<\/p>\n
