The meeting, which lasted for more than three hours, was attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mukhtari Shagari, zonal and some national officers of PDP.

According to Anenih, “the visit to sokoto is to appreciate Gov. Wamakko for the good work he is doing in the state”.

The PDP board chairman said the party was happy with the way Wamakko handled the affairs of the state, especially security.

“We have also discussed issues about the the corporate existence of the country and other issues where there is a disconnect between the party’s national secretariat and the states. These issues also include those of relations between the executives and the legislatures and the general welfare of Nigerians,” Anenih said.

He stated that the meeting was a family one between family members, adding that it was “purely private”.

According to him, “we are pleasantly surprised about the warm reception we have received in the state”.

Wamakko had earlier told newsmen that the visit was part of the board’s tour of the PDP-controlled states.

“This is with the view of making the party stronger and formidable, hence ensure a better and brighter future for the PDP,” he added.

Wamakko, however, stressed the need for the PDP to ensure justice, fairness and equity amongst the party members and states nationwide .

“This is the message we sent to the party’s national leadership from the state but I am not contemplating leaving the party as being speculated by the press.

” We cannot abandon what we helped to build as such, we will continue to stay and work for the growth and development of the PDP,” Wamakko said.

Sokoto State Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abubakar Yabo, commended the board members for the visit, assuring that PDP would continue to remain stronger and indivisible.

Anenih also led the members to the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, where they held a closed-door meeting with him.
