GOVERNOR Rabi\u2019u Musa Kwankwaso of Kano state has signed into law the state Consumer Protection Council bill.It is to safeguard the people against substandard and fake products, as well as ensure that people of Kano get value for the money they spend on consumer goods. Signing the bill at Government House, Governor Kwankwaso said that the law was a deliberate attempt to ensure that products circulating in the market meet approved standards, pointing out that anybody found contravening the law will not be spared. He said that government will not relent in protecting the lives of the people of the state. The governor tasked the state Ministry of Justice to embark on a massive awareness campaign on the provisions of the new law and rights of consumers. Meanwhile, Governor Kwankwaso, presided over the swearing-in of Interim Management Office (IMOs) for three local government areas in the state. The newly appointed management officers are Danlami Jazuli Kura for Dawakin Tofa, Labaran Jazuli for Kumbotso, and Farouk Abdu Sumaila for Rogo local government. The governor warned them to be dedicated and prudent leaders as his administration will not tolerate any act of corruption and indiscipline. He said government will fully support them to improve the lives of the people. He also enjoined them to be focused and dynamic in discharging their duties, saying that the local governments\u2019 projects monitoring committee will be strengthened to ensure efficient service delivery.<\/p>\n
