The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has said it will begin the cancellation of entire results for candidates caught in exam malpractice in more than one subject.<\/p>\n

This was revealed by WAEC, through a communique issued at the end of the council\u2019s 55th Nigeria Examinations Committee ,NEC,meeting held in Lagos.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0communique\u00a0 signed by the councils Deputy Director (Public Affairs), Mr Yusuf Ari, stated that it had become necessary to review its rules on examination malpractice in the light of recent developments.<\/p>\n

According to the council \u201cin order to check the ugly trend, the committee subsequently decided that the sanction in the council\u2019s rules and regulations should be reviewed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is clear that there is an urgent need to review the rule on such cases from cancellation of subject result to cancellation of entire results\u201d.<\/p>\n

Citing cases of rogue websites and erring officials the council said there was a need for improved standards in conducting examinations.<\/p>\n

The West African Examinations Council has maintained position as Africa\u2019s foremost examining body. The Council conducts several international and national examinations in all member countries except Nigeria where it has shed all but one of its examinations the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).<\/p>\n
