Nigerian R&B star Banky W has been selected as one of the speakers at this year\u2019s edition of the Oxford University Pan African Conference.<\/p>\n

The Empire Mates Entertainment CEO will represent Nigeria at the annual Pan African forum which will hold on Saturday, 4 May at the Oxford Union in Oxford, London. He will be speaking on the importance of current cultural shifts and changes in artistic expression.<\/p>\n

PMNEWS Showbiz Trends<\/em> learnt that Banky W will also discuss\u00a0the rise of a vibrant media industry and how these changes are shaping the continent\u2019s self-perception and its\u00a0image abroad.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am honoured to be selected to speak at this year\u2019s conference. I feel very blessed and privileged to even be allowed to grace the same stage as some of the great dignitaries, past and present, involved in the programme. I hope that my contribution will add value to the lives of those in attendance.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure that I will also take home a great deal of knowledge,\u201d said Banky W, who recently released his fourth album.<\/p>\n

Other keynote speakers at the conference will include Ernest Koroma, President of Sierra Leone; King Letsie III\u00a0of Lesotho; Mrs Luisa Diogo, former Prime Minister of Mozambique and\u00a0Mr Thabo Mbeki, former President of South Africa among many others.<\/p>\n

Other world leaders who have been hosted by the Oxford Union include former US presidents, Ronald Reagan, Richard Nixon and Jimmy Carter; Malcolm\u00a0X, Mother Theresa, the Dalai Lama, David Cameron and Senator John McCain.<\/p>\n

The Oxford University Pan African Conference since its inception has been the foremost gathering of African\u00a0students in the United Kingdom. In partnership with the Oxford Union, the conference brings together hundreds of\u00a0dynamic scholars, entrepreneurs, activists, and political leaders from around the world.<\/p>\n

Over the years, the bestselling singer-performer has represented Nigeria locally and internationally, with recent roles including being a torch bearer at the 2012 Olympics in London.<\/p>\n

Temitope Folaranmi, Oxford Union Conference Chairman, said on the selection of Banky W as one of the speakers for this year: \u201cBanky W is one of the leading African musician\/producers with a strong international presence.
