UPDATE<\/strong>: The Golden Eaglets could not get revenge over the Cote Ivoire team losing by penalties in the final<\/p>\n

After 90 minutes of an evenly matched final between the U-17 teams of Nigeria and Cote d\u2019Ivoire, the young Elephants won the tournament 1-1 (5-4) after penalties.<\/p>\n

Nigeria scored first in the first half through Omega in the eighth minute but the young Elephants equalized in the 26t minute through Bedia as there was a break-down in communication between the defenders and the goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

The Golden Eaglets were reduced to 10 men in the 86t minute when the goal scorer, Omega was sent off for a raised elbow.
The match went straight to penalty kicks from which the Ivoriens emerged victorious with all five kicks to lift the Caf U-17 tournament for the first time, Goal.com reports.<\/p>\n

Cote d’ivoire have won the 2013 CAF U17 Championship after defeating Nigeria 5-4 on penalties after full time scores stood at 1-1.<\/p>\n
