Operatives of the The Nigeria Security\u00a0 and Civil Defence\u00a0 Corps, Ogun State Command revealed on Sunday that it arrested 82 candidates for examination malpractices during\u00a0 the Unified\u00a0 Tertiary Matriculation Examination which held at the weekend.<\/p>\n

According to the state Corps Commandant,\u00a0 Aboluwoye Akinwande, in a statement released by the command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, Kareem Olanrewaju, the candidates were arrested from different centres\u00a0 across\u00a0 the state for their involvement in all sorts of malpractices\u00a0 during the examination.<\/p>\n

While\u00a0 30 candidates were\u00a0 arrested\u00a0 in various centres in Abeokuta, nine were nabbed in\u00a0 Ewekoro Local Government\u00a0 and others at\u00a0 Olabisi Onabanjo\u00a0 University centre\u00a0 and Molusi College\u00a0 in Ijebu Igbo.<\/p>\n

Akinwande said, \u201cSome of them\u00a0 were caught using their phones, while others were in possession of prohibited\u00a0 materials like books, palm tops, scientific calculators\u00a0 among\u00a0 others.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe corps will take appropriate action on the candidates caught cheating. The first thing is that they have been made to fill relevant forms.<\/p>\n

\u201cInvestigation will be conducted, that will determine their culpability and then we can decide on their\u00a0 trial. Necessary\u00a0 information about them have been collected.<\/p>\n

\u201cApart from the arrest, no violence was\u00a0 recorded\u00a0 in any of the\u00a0\u00a0 108 examination\u00a0 centres.\u201d<\/p>\n

Akinwande said the corps would continue to work to ensure reduction in crime in the state and urged parents and other stakeholders in the sector to support them to realize this.<\/p>\n
