The Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC has said it would not demand an upward review in the current minimum wage from the Federal Government.

The Deputy President of the NLC, Promise Adewusi stated this Wednesday on the Channels Television breakfast programme. He explained that the congress is still conducting research into the minimum wage issue and until that is concluded no demand will be made to the government.

He said that as Nigerian workers observe the May Day celebration, “We would not be asking for new minimum wage. Our research is still going on and when we are done we will make presentation and a new demand but not yet.”

Mr. Adewusi emphasized that the congress has adopted the use of constructive dialogue to deal with issues and enhance the welfare of Nigerian workers as well as protect the rights of Nigerian citizens.
