The Jigawa Government on Friday said it earmarked N250 million for the construction of an ultra-modern rehabilitation centre for persons with disability.<\/p>\n

Alhaji Ibrhaim Rabakaya, the Executive Secretary, Jigawa Rehabilitation Board, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse that the project would be sited in Dutse.<\/p>\n

Rabakaya said N18 million had been released to the board to facilitate smooth take off of the project, which would be\u00a0 completed in three years.<\/p>\n

He said that computer, sports and recreational facilities, literacy classes and workshops would be provided at the centre to enhance training of the persons.<\/p>\n

“It is a training centre, it will also serve as transit camp for persons with disability,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The secretary said the effort would reduce street begging and improve the socio-economic well being of the affected persons.<\/p>\n

According to him, the board has so far established community-based rehabilitation centres in the 27 local government areas of the state. (NAN)<\/p>\n
