Three farmers from Teme Fulani Camp near Gwanara, Kwara State, arraigned before Magistrate M.F.Abikoye in Ilorin, have been remanded at Mandala Prison, Ilorin, for allegedly conspiring and dispossessing some commuters of their valuables at gun point.<\/p>\n

The accused, Jimoh Isah, Karimu Magaji and Ahmed Jida, were arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, contrary to sections 97 of penal code and 1(2) of Armed Robbery and Firearms Act of Nigeria.<\/p>\n

They were alleged to have on 15 April attacked some commuters, who were returning from Ilesha-Baruba, and dispossessed them of their property, including handsets and money.<\/p>\n

Nemesis, however, caught up with the accused when the numbers in the handset recovered from the incident scene were used to track and arrest them.<\/p>\n

Police First Information Report, FIR, on the matter stated that investigation conducted at the state Criminal Investigation Department, CID, revealed that the accused committed the offences.<\/p>\n

The prosecutor, Corporal Oderinde Abiodun, had objected to the bail of the accused, urging the court to remand them in prison custody pending the outcome of police investigation.<\/p>\n

Magistrate Abikoye acceded to the request of the prosecutor and ordered that the accused be remanded until 22 May when the case would come up for further mention.<\/p>\n
