At least 164 suspects have been arrested at various black spots on Lagos Island during a massive raid carried out by the police.<\/p>\n

The Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, in charge of Area \u2018A\u2019,\u00a0 Lion Building, Campbell Street, Lagos Island, Mr. I. O. Edgar, at the weekend, led the joint operation comprising military personnel, mobile policemen, Neighbourhood Watch and Civil Defence personnel to raid suspected crimminals\u2019 hideouts on the Island.<\/p>\n

Areas raided, according to a police source, included CMS, Luther, Kakawa, Olushi, Massey, Bamgbose, Igbosere, Oja Oba, Adeniji Adele Under Bridge, and Obalende.<\/p>\n

At the end of the operation, the police source said, 164 suspects including two female were arrested and taken to the station where they are currently undergoing interrogation<\/p>\n

Items recovered from the suspects, according to the police, include some weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and weapons.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the police at Area \u2018A\u2019 Command, Lagos Island have refuted the information being\u00a0 circulated that a Divisional Police Officer, DPO, has been shot dead on Lagos Island.<\/p>\n

A police source told P.M.NEWS<\/em> that no police officer was killed or injured on Lagos Island, saying, \u201cthose peddling the false rumour are doing so to cause confusion.\u201d<\/p>\n

When P.M.NEWS<\/em> visited Area \u2018A\u2019 Command to see the commander for comments over the raid and the rumour, he was said to have gone to the State Police Command for briefing.<\/p>\n

But a police source comfirmed the raid and denied the death rumour.<\/p>\n
