The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has put on hold the planned industrial mass action to press for additional welfare package following a successful meeting in Lagos on Friday between the union leaders and the management.

In a meeting with representatives from National Union Air Transport Employees(NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria(ATSSSAN), and Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations,Civil Service Technical and Reacreational Services Employees(AUPCTRE), the union is expected to continue on Monday to further deliberate on issues at stake after the parties agreed that dialogue remains the best way of re-solving industrial crisis.

Comrade Abdulkareem Motajo who led the NUATE team remarked during the two- hour deliberation that the union leaders were not interested in creating problem for the management but that the ultimatum earlier issued was to send a ‘friendly’ warning that there were issues yet to be resolved.

Comrade Clement Ajayi advised the management to always involve the national secretariat in all its trade union matters so as not to create unnecessary tension in the system.

NAMA’s director of human resources, Dr Uwem Akangson who represented the Managing Director of the agency, Engr. Mazi Nnamadi Udoh said the meeting became necessary because there was obvious communication gap between management and the unions on extent of achievement on the implementation of the new salary package for the workers.

He noted that before now, the agency had properly implemented the approved consolidated salary adding that the managing director had earlier directed the human resources department to look into the fresh agitation by the unions ,the process of which he disclosed had reached an advanced stage.
