""A baby delivery syndicate has been uncovered by the area ‘E’ command of the Nigerian Police and a key suspect arrested and paraded in Lagos, alongside two other women believed to have paid N1.5m and N3m respectively, admitting to have fallen prey to her deception. One of the two suspects named Joy Ibe (43) who lives at Ajah area of Lagos, said she has been married for 18 years without bearing a child and while seeking for solutions, she came in contact with the Port Harcourt based 50- year old woman identified as Obi George, who was noted for helping women deliver babies after paying an agreed amount of money. According to her, one of her neighbours in the United States came down to Nigeria on a visit, heard about Obi George and on her return to the United States sent her Obi George’s phone number by SMS asking her to contact her if she’s interested. The Port-Harcourt based 50-year old woman identified as the person that has been ‘helping women deliver children’ also gave an account of her part that she played in the case of the suspect that was arrested by police in Lagos, saying the suspect named Cecilia was brought to her house by a particular Mrs Okoro whom she claimed she had worked with in ‘child delivery’ that she should help her in delivering the set of twin babies that Cecilia was carrying. She said Mrs Okoro who is now at large, told her that her own apartment cannot be used because her husband was around and she agreed but not without an agreed amount of N1, 5m changing hands and on date of expected delivery, Cecilia came down to Port Harcourt from Lagos, on arrival she was given some herbs which she chewed and the delivery process started after she came back from the toilet. Cecilia was asked to lie down and keep pushing so the babies can come out of her and it was at that point they played the trick as they cut Cecilia with a razor blade to make it look like she had a tear and also make it look real and the twin babies were brought in by Mrs Okoro as she claimed not to know where Mrs Okoro got the babies from Cecilia travelled down to Lagos with the twin babies and head to the hospital to arrange for injections for the new babies and after she and the babies were examined she was told to wait for the injections. With the waiting game on, the hospital suspecting foul play as it was discovered that she didn’t give birth to the babies called the police and Cecilia was taken by the police. .
