Two ex-internationals, Christian Chukwu, MON and Tijani Babangida have predicted a tough duel for the Super Eagles as they confront Mexico’s national football team in an international friendly billed for Friday in the United States of America, USA.

The duo opined that the Mexicans would want to make a statement by beating the reigning African champions.

Chukwu, who once tinkered and captained the Eagles said he foresees a competitive battle while urging the Eagles to do their best to ensure that they triumph.

Babangida on his part challenged the Coach Stephen Keshi tutored-side to use the match to prepare for the upcoming busy month of June.

The Eagles have two World Cup qualifying matches and the 2013 Confederations Cup also holds in Brazil.

According to Chukwu, “the Mexicans would not be pushovers tomorrow because they would want to show the world that they are a formidable side”.

Meanwhile, the medical crew of the Eagles are sweating on the fitness of Onazi Ogenyi ahead of the match.

The AS Lazio of Italy star picked up a hamstring knock last weekend in the Coppa d’Italia final victory over AS Roma and had to be substituted in the dying minutes of the game raising fears over his availability for the busy month of May and June.

The 2013 Nations Cup gold medalist breezed into the Eagles’ camp Wednesday and was a part of the evening training of the side but on a part time level.

Ogenyi virtually trained alone, running round the pitch with occasional ice pack treatment to his thighs from the team physiotherapist while the rest of the squad were undergoing some ball work sessions on the pitch.

The Nigeria 2009 U-17 World Cup silver medalist also made use of the ball, juggling round the pitch and some form of physical stretching to further establish his level of fitness.

The array of hope however came with his participation in the final phase of training with the rest of the squad and his muscle troubles were hardly noticeable as the petit midfielder even released his trade mark bullets of a shot to drive home his state of good health and his willingness to be a part of the squad on the day.

Speaking after the training, Onazi ogenyi declared himself fit and adding” we are aware of the task at hand and we are all rearing to go”.

The team will have one more training session Thursday evening before the match.
