The Supreme Court of Nigeria has fixed June 4 to hear the suit between Governor Rochas Okorocha and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, challenging his victory at the 2011 polls.

This is as a group of lawyers loyal to former governor of the state, Ikedi Ohakim, Thursday, served a petition to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Mrs. Aloma Muktar.

The petitioners allege that there is plot to disband the panel handling a fresh appeal by Governor Rochas, challenging the joining of his predecessor in an election petition that was filed against him by the governorship candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the state, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume.

Ararume, who claims the election was marred with irregularities is seeking to overturn the gubernatorial election that brought Governor Okorocha to power.

In their letter to the CJN, by one Adebalogun Sai, the petitioners alleged a plot by a powerful group in the judiciary working for one the litigants to sack the appeal panel handling Ararume’s petition. – SOURCE
