Kenya\u2019s President Uhuru Kenyatta has pledged to give the national soccer team Harambee Stars maximum support in the forthcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Nigeria and subsequent matches.<\/p>\n

In a message delivered on behalf of the President by Nairobi Senator Gideon Mbuvi Sonko during a press briefing on Friday, president Uhuru pledged to reward the national soccer team Harambee Stars with three million shillings if they beat Nigeria on 5 June in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

Michezoafrika.com reports that Sonko himself announced that he will personally reward the team with one million shillings should they upset the reigning African champions making it a four million shillings (36,000 euros) pledge in total. <\/p>\n

Sonko has also promised 200,000 shillings for every goal scored during the same match that will be staged at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani next week Wednesday.<\/p>\n

During the first round of the same meet between Kenya and Nigeria in Calabar, Cross River State in March, Sonko and President Uhuru Kenyatta also pledged a million shillings each for a win.<\/p>\n

The two teams drew 1-1 in Calabar, but President Kenyatta and Sonko went ahead to reward the team with two million shillings cash money.
Goalscorer Francis Kahata was also handed 100,000 shillings in cash by Sonko.<\/p>\n

Kenya need a win to go to 5 points same as current group leaders Nigeria who have 5 points.<\/p>\n

Only five teams from Africa will qualify to represent the continent in Brazil during the 214 FIFA World Cup.<\/p>\n
