The Federal Government has concluded plans to unveil a memorial cenotaph erected in honour of the victims of the tragic Dana aircrash on Monday June 3rd<\/sup> to mark the first anniversary of the crash.<\/p>\n

The Unveiling ceremony \u00a0is the climax of a week-long programme of activities to commemorate the anniversary. It will be attended by a very High level Federal government delegation, with the Aviation Minister, Princess Adaeze Oduah as Chief Host.<\/p>\n

The Memorial Cenotaph is erected at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, the departure point of the ill- fated plane. The Unveiling will be preceeded by a Christian inter-denominational Church Service at the Pilgrims Wing of the General Aviation Terminal (GAT), Abuja. Arch Bishop of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah will be amongst the Clergy to conduct the Church Service.<\/p>\n

According to Joe Obi SA (Media) to the Hon. Minister of Aviation, \u201cthe Federal government last Friday led a High-Powered delegation to join up with the Muslim Ummah for a Special Juma’at Prayers at the National Mosque, Abuja, in Honour of victims of the air crash. This was followed earlier today, Monday June 3rd\u00a0by Christian Prayers in Churches across the country in Honour of our departed compatriots\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Federal Ministry of Aviation has come up with several safety initiatives, including the upgrade of safety-critical infrastructure in the sector to avert a future re-occurrence. \u00a0Furthermore, the Ministry, through the National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP) 2013, has instituted a New Family Insurance Scheme to aid families of crash victims in the country\u201d Obi said.<\/p>\n
