Forgive me while try to find the means to laugh. A country that CANNOT supply power is planning to send astronauts into space? Is that someone’s idea of a bad joke or what?
While Grandpa Rohilala, who is a million years old, was treated in his own environment, in these parts people who develop appendicitis high tail it to parts of the world where they can get treated without the risk of kicking a bucket. Yet we want to train astronauts?
Out here, people who crash planes are flown express to Germany, then to the US for treatment. Yet, we want to train astronauts.
It’s too early to be drinking Jack Daniels people. Oh well, given that the training is meant to start in 2015, maybe the whole thing is just another slogan. Now that’s something we are actually good at.
Quote of the Day
“The lawyer will jump ship in the middle of the legal sea courtesy of a fat brief from the defendants.” — Segun Balogun explains why suing MTN and Airtel for the millions of unsolicited text messages is a harebrained idea.
Bits and bobs
While we’re dreaming ludicrous space travels, serious people are actually building serious stuff.
Maevis, the chaps who for a while managed to make the Zoo look like an actual airport, have won N5 billions. Where the party at?
Our biggest Wig says that the ‘war’ against corruption is ‘total’. “Let me quickly add that the fight against corruption in the judiciary is not only targeted at the judicial officers but also against any employee of the judiciary who finds luxury or convenience in engaging in corrupt practices or who engages in any other unwholesome conduct,” she harrumphed as another public official contemplated the benefits of a perpetual injunction, and another pondered on the benefits of a space programme.
Those of you in Lagos should prepare for a bad day. First the weather ain’t gonna be nice according to NEMA, then, well, quite a few politicians will storm the city.
And no Mogbeke, I’m not talking about the Tahiti game.
