A Joint Task Force of the Ministry of Health in Delta state has shut down about 23 illegal nursing schools allegedly involved in training of auxiliary nurses in Asaba and Sapele.<\/p>\n

Four persons suspected to be illegal hospital operators have also been apprehended by the taskforce while others have been identified and on the run.<\/p>\n

The taskforce which was set up by the Delta state government to reposition the health sector, have arrested several persons suspected to be operating illegal medical institutions in the state.<\/p>\n

The team was led by Dr Alfred Ebiakofa closed down several of the illegal nursing schools including New Patron Hospital and Maternity, where quack nurses and teachers were allegedly involved in the training of auxiliary nurses.<\/p>\n

The operator of the centre, who claims to be a medical doctor, has employed over 16 quack tutors to train the nurses for two years, after a N150,000 tution fee.<\/p>\n

It was also discovered that in most cases, the auxiliary nurses were issued licences to practice their career at private hospitals and clinics at cheap labor.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
