Akwa Starlet of Akwa Ibom coach, Deacon Emmanuel King in this interview said there is room for the Glo Nigeria Premier League, he posited further that he foresees Akwa United represented the country on the continent very soon<\/em><\/p>\n

You have been saddle with the challenges of handling Akwa Starlet, how as it been working with the young team?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It has been an herculean task because you have to keep developing and also keep to the local talent in the state we have to make 95% indigene for the team, it is quite exciting working with the young lads and looking at the talent they have I think I\u2019m happy working with them and for me they are a wonderful talents to work with at these stage.<\/p>\n

You have a task of making your team 95% indigenous, which mean your team is a breeding ground for the main team, Akwa United?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

That is the terms of reference for the team and that is why you see most of our players that we get from other clubs end up playing for Akwa United the senior team , and our players are promoted regularly from time to time.<\/p>\n

The attention was not on your team until your team live up to the great expectation of the Federation cup, I mean upsetting Kwara United who are doing well in the Glo Nigeria Premier League, how did you achieve the magic?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I would not say it\u2019s a magic, I would say how vested you are in the game, how you can read and understand your opponents well in the\u00a0 game and also the tactical approach and the resources at your disposal.<\/p>\n

Football everywhere is one and the only changing phase is the motivational factors for your players the comfort and the challenges of being professionals in your game . The feat against KwaraUnited\u00a0 was just a side that are well determined to excel playing football.<\/p>\n

That means you and your technical team scout for talents how is it getting young players to fit in to what you want as a coach?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We have a scouting team.\u00a0 I need to do is watch one or twice and I will know if the person fits into my team, and it is great working with the young players, the only thing is that people should be patient when working with young players because they need time to mature for you to get the best from them. Look at all the world best players they started from a very tender age and now they are the best in the world and I think we just need to be patient<\/p>\n

Your team is doing well in the league and also we have teams withdrawing when the excitement is just brewing, how will you want those teams to consider others in the league in future?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think they withdrew but they went bankrupt , so they decided to pull off and I think\u00a0 lack of sponsorship is affecting\u00a0 clubs. I think team should seek for sponsorship apart from the parent sponsors that is not even coming to the team, let team managed their marketing right equally and the percent can be shared.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t you think Nigeria National League, NNL should help out when a team is bankrupt to save the face of the league?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It shows how we lack passion in the Sporting sector; look at the Education sector, Power sector and in every aspect of the Economy there are hic-ups but in Sports it there that we as a Nations are United and the government are not commmited to it and the main actor are not getting what they should get<\/p>\n

How will you rate the Glo Nigeria Premier League and where do you see Akwa United?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The league can only get better and for Akwa United I see them representing the country in continental competitions in the near future.<\/p>\n
