\"\"The Rivers State government has built an independent power plant to provide an uninterrupted electricity supply for industries in Port Harcourt, the State Capital.<\/strong><\/em> The Chairman of the state-owned Integrated Medical Industries, Dr. Sampson Parker said with the provision of the independent Power Plant, the state is poised to develop an alternative economy that will compete with the current oil based economy. Dr. Parker made the pledge during an inspection of a Power Plant built by General Electricity in the state. The GE 624 power plant\u00a0will provide 14 megawatts of electricity to industries in the Rivers state capital. Dr. Parker further stated that the state government is committed to investing in the manufacturing, farming, education, health and energy industries in the state.<\/p>\n
