Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa’ad has stated that an assessment of President Goodluck Jonathans administration by the Jamatrul Nasril Islam (JNI) will be a strong determinant of the coming 2015 elections.

Abubakar Sa’ad made this assertion while speaking on Sunday during a conference by the group held in Kaduna.

The conference with theme ‘The role of Muslim scholars in fostering unity, peace and security in Nigeria’ was aimed at bringing stakeholders from separate regions together to brainstorm on solutions to the current insurgency situation and foster unity among Muslims in Nigeria.

Sultan Abubakar said the assessment of Jonathan’s government by the Islamic body became imperative in order to ascertain if the president has treated Muslim faithfuls’ fairly as he promised Islamic leaders during his electioneering campaign in 2011 before seeking for a re-election in 2015.

The Sultan blamed the ruling political class for the security challenges in some parts of the country, adding that Muslims were not responsible for the boko haram insurgency in the north with had completely crippled socio-economic activities.
