The killing of dozens of people, mostly students, in an attack by gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram Islamist sect on a secondary school in Yobe State is a \u201chorrific\u201d act, the European Union\u00a0said on Sunday.<\/p>\n

A hospital in Potiskum confirmed that 42 people were killed while the Military already stated that at least 20 students and one teacher were killed. According to accounts of some survivors of the dawn attack said gunmen rounded up students and staff at the school in Nigeria\u2019s restive northeast and placed them in a dormitory before throwing explosives inside and opening fire.<\/p>\n

\u201cI condemn in the strongest possible terms the horrific murder by terrorists of some 30 innocent children and a teacher early\u00a0on Saturday\u00a0morning in a school in Mamudo town in northeastern Nigeria,\u201d EU Diplomatic Chief, Catherine Ashton wrote in a statement.<\/p>\n

Ashton added that she would continue to offer her solidarity and determination to the process of restoring security, peace and reconciliation to the North. She also called for those responsible to be brought to justice.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
