Some ex-internationals Wednesday at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos staged a peaceful protest asking the Federal Government and the National Sports Commission, NSC, to sack the current board of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.

The ex-internationals stated that the current NFF board does not have the ability to run football in the country positing that only ex-internationals should be at the helm of affairs.

While speaking on Metro FM Wednesday, President of the National Association of Nigerian Footballers, NANF, and Harrison Jalla said they want the current board to vacate the Glass House because they are not concerned about the plight of ex-internationals that represented the country at one point or the other.

Jalla in the interview alleged that the NFF board led by President Aminu Maigeri should leave the board peacefully or risk being forced out.

According to Jalla: “It is the norm all over the world that experts are placed where they belong, it is only in Nigeria that you’ll find an engineer or barrister doing the job of another person; as a journalist your duty is to report stories. We are mobilising the NFF secretariat to dislodge them if they fail to leave honorably.”

He stated further that NANF would be incorporating other sportsmen that have represented the country in the past so they also can use their wealth of experience in their respective fields for the development of sports in general.

“It is like one death too much for ex-internationals in the country. Yekini died, Okey Isima followed, now Thompson Oliha is gone, ask me what is the NFF doing about the house that the Tunisia 1994 winning team were promised.

“Jerry Okorodudu walks around the National Stadium with nothing to do, it is high time things changed and now is the time,” he fumed.
