Police Affairs Minister, Navy Capt Caleb Olubolade (rtd), has declared his intention contest next year’s governorship election in Ekiti State.<\/p>\n

His declaration has brought to 25 the number of candidates vying for the post under the Peoples Democratic Party\u2019s platform.<\/p>\n

The minister spoke on Friday at a media briefing held at his country home in Ipoti-Ekiti, Ijero local government area of the state.<\/p>\n

According to Olubolade, given the situation of the party, he decided to contest to stabilse the party and ensure it was provided with a leadership which could muster needed respect among the citizenry.<\/p>\n

The minister noted that being a party leader, he is obliged to contest the election, saying that he is the most experienced among the party\u2019s aspirants.<\/p>\n

His words, \u201cIf I cannot do it, who else can do it? I have governed a state as Military Administrator. I have also served both as Minister of State for the FCT and Minister of Special Duties. Now I am the Police Affairs Minister, so who else can do it?\u201d<\/p>\n
