President Goodluck Jonathan has restated Nigeria\u2019s and the African Union\u2019s opposition to the unconstitutional removal of any democratically \u2013 elected government in Africa.\"\"<\/strong><\/em> In a statement by the Special Adviser on media and publicity, Reuben Abati, Good luck Jonathan declared that Nigeria maintains its stand, that only the electorate in any country has the constitutional right to remove an elected leader. During a visit by the special envoy of the Egyptian interim government, Ambassador Raouf Saad in Lagos, Jonathan advised the government to do all it can to return the country to democratic rule as soon as possible. The president pledged the support of Nigeria and the African Union to ensure that Egypt returns to the path of constitutionalism and political stability.<\/p>\n
