Nigeria’s Federal Government on Wednesday inaugurated three National Integrated Power Project (NIPP) Distribution Sub-Stations the under the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.<\/p>\n

The sub-stations constructed by Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited are in Ona- Ara and Apata in Oyo State as well as Ikirun in Osun.<\/p>\n

Mr Abiodun Olotu, the Managing Director, Niger Delta Power Holding Company, told newsmen that the objective of the NIPP sub-stations was to provide more quality power supply to residents.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NIPP Distribution Sub-stations, which is made up of 1&15MBVA Injection Sub-Station, is a solution to inadequate transformer supply and power outage in these areas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

NAN reports that the Oluyole sub-station would serve residents of Ona Ara while that of Apata would provide relief for those at Owode and Housing Estate area of Ibadan.<\/p>\n

The Ikirun road injection sub-station would service residents of Oluode, Ayetoro, power line and Biket areas in Osogbo township.<\/p>\n

Mr Bolaji Oyesikun, the Managing Director of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, commended President Goodluck Jonathan for initiating the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sub-station at Ona Ara is a relief for the residents who had their transformer at Olorunsogo injection sub-station burnt down during the fuel subsidy protest in January 2012, \u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said that the NIPP project was capable of generating and supplying electricity to consumers for a period 16 hours daily.<\/p>\n

NAN also reports that the sub-stations is different from the 10 big power plants initiated by the Federal Government and targeted at generating 5,000 mega watts.<\/p>\n
