A group consisting of Norhern Elders Forum, North\/South New Nigeria Forum, Fresh Air Continuity Group of North West and Northern PDP Youth, who paid a courtesy call on the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, commended President Goodluck Jonathan and the leadership of the party for facilitating the recent release of the former Chief Security Officer to late Gen. Sani Abacha, Major Al-Mustapha.
The group led by the former Minister for Education, Alhaji Dauda Birma, also endorsed Jonathan for second term. According to the group, Jonathan is credible and qualified to re-contest especially with the released of Major al-Mustapha.
It added that with the restoration of security to the North East zone alone, the President has proved he has the interest of Nigerians at heart.
In his presentation, the Chairman of NEF, Birma, who led the group, explained that the National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, played a leading role in convincing Jonathan to grant executive accent to the release of al-Mustapha.
\u201cI know how much the chairman has been working hard to get al-Mustapha released. I know that someone who has worked with a former head of state and was incarcerated for 15 years cannot be released by mere pronouncements of the judiciary without the concurrence of the executive.
\u201cI must thank Mr. Chairman for getting the ear of the President for this gesture. I must also thank the Nigerian women: three staunch women sat on the judgment and we want to thank the Nigerian women.
\u201cGoodluck Jonathan\u2019s leadership has been rated as the best administration so far. With what Jonathan has done in Maiduguri, I can affirm that the city is now safer than most parts of the country\u201d
Hon. Muhammed Waziri (Northern PDP Youths) and Dr. Aisha Nana Abdulkadir, who also spoke, told Tukur that he was facing criticisms from some members of the party of his principled stand on fairness and truth, insisting that 2015 should be left for Jonathan.
Bayelsa state governor and newly inaugurated Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Reconciliation Committee, Henry Seriake-Dickson, yesterday declare that his committee would ensure the restoration of the party in all the opposition states of the country.
Meanwhile, Bayelsa state governor, Seriake-Dickson in his acceptance speech after the inauguration of the committee said he accepted the task of reconciling all aggrieved members of the party in the country in order to put the party on a sound pedestal ahead of the 2015 general elections.<\/p>\n
