President Goodluck Jonathan is billed to visit Nasarawa state Monday next week, to among other things, commission the new Federal High Court.\u00a0Hamza Elayo Mohammed, Commissioner of Information and Orientation, disclosed this while briefing journalists shortly after the Executive council meeting yesterday.\u00a0Elayo disclosed that Jonathan while on the visit is expected to commission one of the completed Al-makura Model schools at Bukan Sidi area of the city as well as the network of urban roads which are the first asphalt roads to be built in the state.<\/p>\n

The Commissioner equally disclosed that the meetings between the Benue and Nasarawa state governments aimed at finding lasting solutions to lingering skirmishes along border communities, have begun to bear fruits, with the two state governments committed with far reaching decisions already taken.\u00a0On the issue of the flood relief package from the Federal Government, Elayo affirmed that the funds were still intact with a committee set up to look into how the funds could be used to mitigate the plight of the victims of the 2012 floods, with the committee expected to submit its report next week.<\/p>\n

He observed that areas of intervention that the funds could be deployed include among others, resettling displaced victims, provision of health care facilities, refurbishing destroyed school structures, stressing that in some areas like Gotu in Loko development area, whole communities would have to be resettled because of the level of devastation by the flood.<\/p>\n
