The Delta state government has commenced a demolition exercise on properties and buildings that pose a threat to achieving the vision of the proposed flyover bridges along the Nnebisi\/Okpanam road.<\/p>\n

The demolition is as a result of the state government’s decision to reduce the present state of traffic plaguing the cities of Asaba and Warri, by constructing two flyover bridges.<\/p>\n

The buildings affected include a church, a shopping mall and other smaller stores by Inter-Bau round about, Okpanam Road, Asaba, but plans have been made by the government to move the church to another site as well as restore the lands to the owners in other parts of the town.<\/p>\n

Both the commissioner for Lands, Mr. Patrick Ferife and his Ministry of Works counterpart, Mr. Funkekeme Solomon in an interview during the demolition exercise,\u00a0explained that government had actually given the occupants of this buildings the required notices long before the demolition.<\/p>\n
