A recent disengagement and promotions exercise by the management of Nigerian Aviation Handling Company, NAHCo Plc yesterday pitched aviation industry unions led by the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN, and the National Union of Air Transport Employees, NUATE, as they question the recent promotions and sack in the company.
The company recently sent no fewer than 30 of its staff packing from its fold while some of alleges incidence of uneven distribution in the promotion exercise carried out by the foremost ground handling company.
At a congress meeting held at the NAHCo office in Lagos, they said most of the workers were not satisfied with the promotions and called for a reversal.
President of ATSSSAN, Comrade Benjamin Okewu told journalists the matter was raised during the congress, but said the management later held a meeting with the unions where they promised to iron out all the thorny issues raised by their members.
Addressing both workers and union leaders, the Acting Managing Director, NAHCo, Mr. Norbert Bielderman informed them that the sacked workers were contract staff who he said had been re-absorbed back into the system by the management.
Bielderman added that some of them also wrote exams on Tuesday and assured that those who perform well would be re-absorbed by the management.
On the promotion, he promised that the management would re-address the situation very soon while those who deserved promotion would be promoted accordingly<\/p>\n
