Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has congratulated the Muslim Ummah on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast; praying that God accepts the supplications made by the faithful during the Ramadan and bestows unparalleled blessings on the people.

In his Eid-el-Fitri message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Peter Okhiria, Comrade Oshiomhole said “I rejoice with the Muslim Ummah as it has pleased Almighty Allah to see us through the Holy month of Ramadan.

“The Ramadan fast has afforded us the opportunity to reconnect with our creator and extend the hands of fellowship to our fellow men.

“However, as we celebrate, we should not forget the lessons learnt, to wit, the spirit of piety, alms-giving, of compassion and love for fellow men.

“We remember, as always, our country this season and I enjoin the Ummah to continue to make supplications to Allah to heal the ills of the nation and favour us with peace and progress.

“In Edo, we have every cause to be thankful to Almighty Allah as He has continued to bestow abundant mercies on us through mutual respect and coexistence between people of different faith.

Meanwhile, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri has also enjoined all Muslims to live the attributes and virtues of Ramadan beyond the holy month.

Omeri praised the Muslims for dedicating the holy month for spiritual purposes, adding that the month has proven to be a period of reflection on the way to move humanity forward.

He further thanked the Muslim community for their efforts in using the holy month to promote unity among all Nigerians regardless of their faith, noting that some Muslims exploited the aspect of breaking of Ramadan fast with Nigerians of other faiths to foster cordiality, peace and unity in the country. “This singular act will attest to our collective resolve to remain indivisible,” Omeri stressed.

He therefore wished all Muslims happy Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, and prayed that the Almighty Allah accept it (Ramadan) as acts of Ibadah (worship).
