The Presidency, Wednesday, claimed the invitation by the All Progressive Congress to President Goodluck Jonathan to join their party was a clear indication that Jonathan was the best man for the job of leading this country.<\/p>\n

It was reacting to the invitation extended to President Goodluck on Tuesday by the APC to president Jonathan to join the newly-registered All Progressives Congress.<\/p>\n

According to the special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, the invitation was \u201can acknowledgment of Jonathan\u2019s sterling leadership qualities\u201d.<\/p>\n

While jettisoning the possibility of the president taking up the offer, Abati lampooned the opposition party for\u00a0 forming a party only to realise later that they do not have a credible candidate.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it (the APC\u2019s invitation) is a compliment. What Chief Akande has said in essence is that President Jonathan is the best man for the job.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey formed a party only to realise they don\u2019t have a candidate. We thank him for his acknowledgment of the President\u2019s leadership qualities, but he (the President) is happy where he is.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thank Chief Akande for his expression of confidence in President Jonathan\u2019s credibility but the President is happy where he is, as a member and leader of the PDP to which he remains loyal, and under the umbrella of which he is leading a transformation agenda for the betterment of the lives of Nigerians\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
