Former Heads of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and General Abdulsalami Abubakar, yesterday joined thousands of Muslims to worship at the Minna main Eid praying ground.

The Niger State Acting Governor, Ahmed Ibeto, commissioners, top government officials, and the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Faruk Bahago, also worshipped at the Minna praying ground.

The prayer, led by the Chief Imam of Minna, Sheikh Ibrahim Fari, started at 10.02am and lasted for 10 minutes.

In his speech, Bahago called on the people to sustain the peaceful coexistence in his domain.

According to the emir, without peace there cannot be progress and development in the emirate.

Bahago particularly commended the elders of Anguwan Daji and Limawa wards for the efforts they put in disarming their unruly youths, who were behind the constant clashes in the two wards.

He added that the problem between the two sides had led to the destruction of properties and injuries on the people in the area.

The royal father also appealed to the people to support government programmes and policies.

The people, according to him, need to embrace and support efforts to eradicate polio and the other child killer diseases.

Bahago appealed to his subjects to allow health officials to immunise their children during the periodic rounds of immunisation.

Also speaking, Abubakar called on Muslims in the country to imbibe the lessons of Ramadan and ensure that they leave in peace with one another, irrespective of their religious beliefs, while wishing Nigerians happy Eidel- Fitr celebration.

The Sallah celebration was peaceful with security agents drafted to various locations in Minna, the state capital, including the Eid praying ground to protect worshippers as well as to control vehicular movement in the town.
