According to the spokesperson of the 1 Brigade, Captain Yahaya Musa, “the operation was conducted as part of the ongoing efforts to rid Sokoto State of the fleeing insurgents from the volatile states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.”

The operation was sequel to a hint given by the locals, with Capt. Musa adding that the raid was “part of the routine operations of the Army to cleanse Nigeria of insurgency and other criminal activities.”
