The Nigeria Prisons Service has exonerated its staff of any complicity in the allegation that a warder at the Kuje Prisons of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, was engaged in sodomy with one of its popular inmates and terror suspect, Charles Okah, describing Okah as an ill-behaved inmate.<\/p>\n

The service said after acting on a petition submitted to it by Festus Keyamo\u2019s chambers, there was nothing to suggest any act of sodomy on the suspect.<\/p>\n

Controller-General of Prisons, Mr. Zakari Ohinoyi Ibrahim, who disclosed this in a statement made available to National Mirror in Abuja yesterday, said on receipt of a petition from Barrister Festus Keyamo\u2019s chambers on behalf of Mr. Charles Okah, an inmate in Kuje prisons, he constituted an investigation panel headed by the Controller of Prisons, FCT Command, to look into the matter.<\/p>\n

Ibrahim said although the service would not want to join issues with Keyamo Chambers in the public, it was pertinent that the records be put straight.<\/p>\n

He said after a routine search was conducted on the prison by eight officers, Mr. Okah was caught with an MTN SIM Card hidden underneath his pants.<\/p>\n

According to him, Okah had refused to be searched and when he eventually gave in to a search, the card was found on him while a Nokia C2 phone and memory card were also found tucked away in an electrical bulb fitting located on top of the concrete ceiling of his cell.<\/p>\n

According to him, Okah\u2019s ill manners have now become unacceptable to the management of the Nigeria Prisons Service.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreliminary investigations revealed that there was nothing that suggests or points to an act of sodomy on Charles Okah by any officer of the prison as alleged. Rather, there was a routine search of the prisons by eight officers, headed by the Chief Warder.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the search, Charles Okah, as usual refused to submit himself for search. But when he eventually subjected himself to the search, an MTN SIM Card was found on him (under his pants). A Nokia C2 phone and a memory card were also discovered in an electric bulb fitting located on top of the concrete ceiling of his cell.<\/p>\n

\u201cCharles Okah has constantly exhibited bad conduct in his cell which is unacceptable to the management,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
