<\/b>An oil servicing company, Total Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited, has handed over a 1.3 kilometre\u00a0 road and a health centre to people of Obiozimini and Obiyebe communities in in Ogba\/Egbema\/Ndoni Local Government, Rivers State.<\/p>\n

The firm, during\u00a0 a ceremony to mark the handover on Saturday, said it decided to put the facilities in place as a result of its management\u2019s commitment towards fulfilling its promises to the host communities.<\/p>\n

General Manager, Joint Venture Operations, Mr. Jean-Clude Vachet, described the projects as strategic and economically viable and added that they would provide a gateway to the economic transformation of Egi Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Vachet, who was represented by the Deputy General Manager, Community Affairs, Mr. Izu Iduoku, said, \u201cIt is our hope that with this quality of road in place, the difficulties usually associated with loading of sand during off-seasons will be greatly reduced thereby making sand more readily affordable.\u201d<\/p>\n

He stated that the health centre established in Obiyebe community was as a result of demand made by the people of Egi under the Memorandum of Understanding the community signed with the oil company six years ago.<\/p>\n

Vachet said, \u201cWith the quality of equipment in the health centre and the excellent living quarters provided, I have no doubt in my mind that this facility will be put to the best use and will serve the community effectively in the area of primary healthcare delivery to our people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0The Community Development Committee Chairman of Obiozimini, Mr. Nwadike Ewe, commended the company for completing the road project.<\/p>\n
