Mojeed Olayiwola of Spring Fresh Table Tennis Club was at his best when he defeated David Fayemi of Union Bank Table Tennis Club in the men\u2019s singles final of the Quarterly Inter-Clubs Table Tennis Competition played on Saturday at the Indoor Hall of Mobolaji Johnson, Rowe Park, Yaba, Lagos.<\/p>\n

Olayiwola gave a good account of himself when he defeated his counterpart, Fayemi 4-2 to emerge the champion.<\/p>\n

Shortly after his victory, Olayiwola said the victory was well deserved but admitted that his opponent gave him a tough game throughout the match.<\/p>\n

He said the victory will spur him to perform well in the forthcoming Lagos InternationaTable Tennis Classics holding later this month.<\/p>\n

\u201cWinning this tournament will boost my chances when the classics stroke off later this mothn. I am using this medium to dedicate this victory to my family and fans who gave me their support throughout the competition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In the women\u2019s singles final, Morufat Idris of Spring Fresh also defeated Tolu Durosimi Etti 4-2 to emerge the winner.<\/p>\n

Etti, who was impressed with opponent\u2019s peformance, told P.M.NEWS Sports<\/em> that lack of concentration was responsible for her defeat, adding that immediately she lost concentration in the first set of the match, she found it difficult to regain her confidence.<\/p>\n

she, however, congratulated Idris for her victory and urged the organisers to continue to promote the ping pong game at the grassroots.<\/p>\n

In the junior \u00a0 girls singles, Bose Odusanya humbled Alimat Ayinla 4-1, while Azeez Ogunlade thrashed Rilwan Akanbi 4-2 in the junior boys singles final.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, chairman of Lagos State Table Tennis Association, Femi Sokoya expressed satisfaction with the organisation and performance of all participating players.<\/p>\n
