{"id":8351,"date":"2013-08-14T17:44:44","date_gmt":"2013-08-14T17:44:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/disnaija.com\/nigeria-news\/rivers-nma-shuts-down-hospitals-arrest-fake-doctors\/"},"modified":"2013-08-14T17:44:44","modified_gmt":"2013-08-14T17:44:44","slug":"rivers-nma-shuts-down-hospitals-arrest-fake-doctors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/disnaija.com\/rivers-nma-shuts-down-hospitals-arrest-fake-doctors\/","title":{"rendered":"Rivers: NMA shuts down hospitals, arrest fake doctors"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fb-like-box\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DisNaija\" data-width=\"292\" data-show-faces=\"false\" data-stream=\"false\" data-header=\"true\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"fb-like\" data-href=\"http:\/\/disnaija.com\" data-send=\"true\" data-width=\"200\" data-show-faces=\"false\" data-action=\"recommend\"><\/div>\n<p><em><strong>By Citizens platform<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The Rivers state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Rivers chapter, has disclosed that it arrested 12 suspected quack medical doctors and shut down four illegal hospitals in the state.<\/p>\n<p>The chairman of the state NMA, Ibitrokoemi Krukrubo, said the suspects had been handed over to the police.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Krukrubo said the suspects were not qualified to practice medicine and did not have the requisite skills and knowledge to treat patients.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the arrest was part of its drive to rid the state of quack doctors so as to restore sanity and regain the public confidence in the medical profession in the state.<\/p>\n<p>He added that apart from the four hospitals shut down, the association is investigating others.
