About 166 hectares of land has been allocated to the Nigeria Police in Ogun state by the State Government. The hectares of land are meant for the execution of the Police Housing Scheme project in Abeokuta.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi stated in Abeokuta at a workshop on Wednesday that Governor Ibikunle Amosun had already released the plots of land for the implementation first phase of the project.

The workshop was organised for station officers, administrative officers and PROs of formations in the state. Adejobi regretted that police personnel had not accessed over N8bn tied down in the National Housing Fund due to the lack of a police mortgage bank which gives every policeman the opportunity to access up to N15m housing loan, repayable for a maximum period of 30 years.

He however said that the IG had directed police commissioners in the states to discuss with the governors on the imperative of allocating the plots of land for the police housing scheme.

The command, therefore, urged its personnel to key into the initiative of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, on the establishment of the Police Mortgage Bank to facilitate housing loans for police officers and men.
