MTV announced that Timberlake will take the stage for an \u201cunforgettable\u201d performance and will also receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 25 August, 2013 event at Brooklyn\u2019s Barclays Center.<\/p>\n

He joined previously announced performers; Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke.
Timberlake, who wraps up his Legends of the Summer stadium tour with Jay Z on today, is tied with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for the most VMA nominations this year with six, including Video of the Year for \u201cMirrors.\u201d
Previous honorees for the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which recognizes innovation and artistry in music video creation and impact, include Michael Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, R.E.M., Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Britney Spears, the last artist to receive the award in 2011.
Timberlake has won 14 VMAs, as a solo artist and as part of boy band \u2018NSYNC, including Male Artist of the Year, Quadruple Threat of the Year and Best Pop Video. Madonna is the only other artist to win more VMAs.<\/p>\n
