THE Executive Secretary of Jigawa Pilgrim Welfare Board, Alhaji Muhammed Alhassan has disclosed that Max airline would airlift Jigawa pilgrims from the Dutse International Airport under construction for the 2013 Hajj. <\/p>\n

  This is to confirm the assurances given earlier by the Jigawa State Government that the construction works on the multibillion-naira airport would be completed and the airport would be utilized for this year\u2019s hajj, he said.<\/p>\n

  He said that eleven different committees have been set up to coordinate and oversee the operation within and out side the country.<\/p>\n

 He said their mandate covers security and welfare.<\/p>\n

According to him, 2,584 seats had been allocated to the state for 2013 hajj exercise, explaining that 646 seats were slashed from the initial 3,330 seats allocated to the state before the reduction of 20 percent from each state of the federation.<\/p>\n

 The Executive Secretary said that the board re-screened the intending pilgrims and dropped some women who were found to be pregnant after the first screening was conducted. Other intending pilgrims affected were those that have performed hajj previously, under age, those with ailments and aged persons.<\/p>\n

  He stated that the board had also remitted about N1.3 billion to the<\/p>\n

National Hajj Commission as fee for the intending pilgrims from the state.<\/p>\n
