Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday, held a crucial talk with erstwhile governor of Oyo State, Senator Rasheed Ladoja, in Ibadan, the state capital.<\/p>\n

The meeting lasted over an hour. Obasanjo drove in at about 6.00 pm in a Landcruiser SUV and left at 7.20 p.m. When accosted by journalists for the details of the meeting, he declined to make comment. Asked whether he came for reconciliation, he said he was not the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). On the effort to reposition the party, he added that he was no longer the BOT chairman.<\/p>\n

Ladoja, however, disclosed the parley was part of national consultations embarked upon by Obasanjo as regards salvaging Nigeria\u2019s democracy. \u201cBaba is a national figure and he has been consulting with people across the country. He came to see me on situation of things as regards the polity and issues concerning the masses of this nation. As farmers, we discussed agriculture and why rice should be cheaper than Gari, he said.\u00a0 He insisted that there was no discussion on PDP or 2015 but said the meeting centred on national issues and not specific politics.<\/p>\n
